Borrowing From FFPL

To borrow books and access electronic resources from the Flemington Free Public Library (FFPL), Flemington Borough residents may apply for a library card in person during library hours of operation. Proof of residency is required before a card will be issued. The Flemington Free Public Library serves as the primary library for Borough residents and a reciprocal borrowing library for patrons of the Hunterdon County Library.

A reciprocal borrowing agreement in place between the Flemington Free Public Library and the Hunterdon County Library allows patrons of both libraries to borrow physical library materials such as print books, Blu-Ray or DVD movies or TV series, and music CDs from each library’s collection. Patrons may also place reserve requests for those materials.

Only Borough residents holding a Flemington Borough Library Card may use FFPL’s Cloud Library and Hoopla electronic resources.

Students and teachers of Flemington-Raritan Schools and Hunterdon Central High School may also apply for a Flemington Free Public Library card.

Circulation Policies

New books circulate for 14 days (two weeks). Older material may be borrowed for four weeks. DVD circulation is limited to a period of one week. The current issue of any magazine or periodical does not circulate, but back issues may be borrowed for two weeks. The loan period for music CDs is also two weeks.

Materials will be automatically renewed as long as no other patron has a placed a reserve request for that item. Two renewals are permitted. All physical materials borrowed may be returned to the Flemington Free Public Library or to any branch of the Hunterdon County Library.
